| Personality/History: | "Before Breen Impressed Dyanath, she was a Weyrbrat, born of a mating flight union between a goldrider and a brownrider. She had full run of the acceptable caverns of the Weyr, and perhaps a few that were off limits, as well, and used these to play intricate games with the other Weyrbrats that sometimes devolved into bullying. That is, Breen was the bully, not the bullied. She has always gotten along better with her father than her mother, given her mother, a Junior Weyrwoman, always pushed Breen to do more, to act smarter, to be better behaved. Breen is only these things when she wants to be, and her father, accepting that children should be allowed to be children, acknowledged that. "It came as a great surprise to everyone, then, when Breen came of age to Impress, that her mother had her transferred to Nidus Corona as a Novo, instead of allowing Breen to Impress in her home Weyr. Though her mother never explained it to her, her reasoning was that living out at the pioneer-like Nidus would teach Breen some proper work-ethic... and to an extent, it did. "Working for long hours to help erect niduli, trap game, and keep the Nidus running was a somewhat humbling experience for Breen, and in the meantime she managed to acquire a whole new set of friends. She would never admit it, but there was a certain amount of homesickness to deal with, so she was extremely grateful to Impress Dyanath a few months after arriving. Training was relatively swift, then. Where Breen was blunt and bull-headed with friends and other Novos, she and Dyanath worked together seamlessly, showing the kind of delicacy usually reserved for long-time rider-dragon pairs. If it wasn't apparent that Breen was natural dragon-rider material before, it certainly became clear during Paro training when the two learned to Between. They managed to get all the way back to their home Weyr without Breen realizing what had happened. So homesick was she that Dyanath had picked up on the Weyr's location and had taken her there." Though she loves shocking unwary humans (or dragons) not expecting her razor-sharp wit, she counts a few other "brilliant" souls as close friends. |
